WHAT INTERIOR DOORS TO CHOOSE

Categories

The problem of choosing interior doors ever have to decide every property owner. And this task is not as easy as it may seem to the uninitiated. Interior doors should be in the same color scheme, have a common style direction, to harmonize with interior decoration, furniture and decor, and not only divide the room.

Door unit that does not coincide in appearance and design with the general design of the premises, easily "broken" conceived design solution. There is only one way out - to install good interior doors, matching all the parameters of the interior decoration of the apartment. There are various criteria for the right choice of this element.

To correctly and accurately install interior doors in their place, you must pay attention not only to the size of the leaf, but also take into account the thickness and width of the door frame, the presence or absence of the threshold. It is also necessary to remember that doors can be left and right. This is important when the unit is fully equipped with hardware and locking devices, and the frame is already provided with notches for fixing hinges.

When the builders created the door openings exactly as standard, there is no problem with the choice of filling according to this parameter. But often property owners are faced with either incorrect geometry of the opening, or with non-standard solutions. Then we have to correct the situation by brickwork or other measures. However, it is more practical to order the fabrication of a door block to individual dimensions.

Structural solutions
Structurally, there are four main categories of doors:

1. Swinging - the most famous type of product. They can be single and double-leaf. The door leaf is attached to the hinged hinges, which are fixed to the frame. In terms of ease of installation, tightness of closing, noise insulation, this design is very effective. But one disadvantage is still - the swing door needs to have a free space for the movement of the leaf. In cramped conditions this is a significant inconvenience.

2. Swinging or pendulum products are essentially a variation of the swing design. In this case the leaf is hung on the hinges of a special device that allows you to move it in any direction - from yourself or towards yourself.

3. Sliding or "coupe" is fundamentally different from the previous version. Here the canvas moves on rollers on special guides along the wall surface, which can be installed only at the top or bottom and top at the same time. Sometimes such a canvas is made completely hidden, but this requires the construction of a box, and this is only possible at the stage of construction or major renovation.

4. The folding version is a very original solution, in which the leaf consists of several sections. Folding interior doors are better to put in apartments with wide openings, when you want to save space. Because such cloths do not take up space when opening at all.

The first two types of door units are the most stable, because sliding and folding types need a lot of hinges and rollers. They are prone to mechanical damage and breakage. When choosing, it is necessary to weigh well what is more important: quality characteristics or originality.

The choice of finishes and materials
The material and finishing methods of the door leaf have a direct influence on the price and performance of the product. What do interior door frames come from? The choice according to this criterion is wide and varied.

The universally recognized favorite is solid and glued wood. It is used to make the most expensive interior doors. For this purpose, high-strength species of trees are taken - ash, beech, oak. When it is necessary to save money, the canvas is made of pine and decorated with a veneer of valuable wood.
MDF is a light, durable and reliable material that is slightly inferior to natural wood in quality, but it is excellent processed and keeps its shape for a very long time. If a product made of MDF is veneered with ecoveneer, then it looks almost the same as solid wood.
High-strength glass (triplex, Matolux, tempered glass) is used to create one-piece panels in constructions with swing and sliding leaves. Glass interior doors are better to put where you want to increase natural light. They can be transparent, frosted, with relief or shaded patterns. It is practiced to use glass as decorative inserts of different shapes and sizes.
Maisonite door leaf is a wooden frame made of coniferous beams with ribs, filled with a light honeycomb-shaped material. The product is lined on both sides with thin MDF sheets. The color of the leaf can be made in any color, since they come on sale only primed.
Doors made of PVC or aluminum alloys are most often installed as exits to the balcony or loggia. This is the cheapest option, but more suitable for offices and industrial buildings than for residential premises.

The door leaves are made blank, panelled, with mirror, glass or stained glass inserts. Paint, varnish and wax coatings and stains are used as finishing materials. Lately lamination technology using decorative polymer films has become popular. When ordering individually, it is possible to choose a coating to your liking, suitable for the interior decoration of the apartment.

Selecting the color of interior doors
The right choice of color is no less essential than the quality and technical indicators of the product. For apartments, it is better to choose interior doors made of natural wood or MDF, veneered. The color on them is considered impeccable, if the coating has a deep homogeneous shade.

Lacquer, including colored, should be transparent and not hide the natural patterns of wood. When the structure of the tree is not visible, it means that an unscrupulous manufacturer has tried under a layer of paint to hide defects or pure marriage. So do not be tempted by the market cheapness, the door units are better to buy in proven companies with installation service and warranty.

While choosing the interior door parts you should pay attention to the full matching color shade of the leaf, door frame, architraves and filler parts. The coloring of this important interior detail shall be in full harmony with the room finishing, furniture, textile and decorative objects. This element has double function - functional and aesthetic.

Some important tips for choosing interior doors
On the surfaces of a quality door unit is inadmissible presence of chips, scuffs. Enamel or varnish should be applied evenly and homogeneously. Check the quality of the lacquered coating by simply pressing a finger or fingernail. A good surface will not show an imprint, such a door can be taken.

Buying several units at once in one room, it is necessary to choose products from one batch. Otherwise, the color shades may not match, and this disadvantage will be visible only after the installation of doors. In addition, bulk purchases are usually accompanied by good discounts. This is a significant savings for the family budget.

Canvases with mirror and glass inserts, as well as completely made of glass, visually expand the space and make the room brighter. But before you buy such interior doors, you need to test the reliability of fixing the inserted elements.

To determine the correctness of geometric parameters, it is necessary to check the diagonals, height and width of the leaf. If the difference exceeds 1 mm, it is better to choose another product. And finally, the complete set should be complete: the leaf, frame parts, platbands, thresholds and additional strips, if there is a need for them.

The right choice of interior doors will provide you with comfort and long life of this essential part of the interior.
